Project Summary

The Punta Lima project consisted of 13 wind turbines that have been in production since October 2012. This wind farm will generate 25 megawatts of clean energy and has the capacity to meet the energy demands for 9,000 homes in several towns along the eastern portion of Puerto Rico.


Our contract included the construction of all site roads, access roads, crane movement paths and staging areas as required by the client, installation of culverts, rock crossings, dust control, construction of MSE slopes, and excavation for each turbine foundation.

The Scope

  • Clearing and grubbing operations in over 40 acres.
  • Excavation in roads and paths was originally estimated at 230,000 cubic meters and 25,000 cubic meters of excavation for structures.
  • All roads with technical requirements to safely transport wind turbine components, high traffic haul road construction, and maintenance for 40-ton rigid frame highway trucks.
  • Excavation and fill for construction of crane pads and turbine foundations.
  • Drainage structures and erosion control.
